Sunday Morning, 9am

  1. I’m experiencing this a little too…then to change gears and make new plans is a little frustrating at times.

Having said that, I’m also beginning to notice just how much teens like to sleep… and my oldest is just 13…😉

  2. Ahhhhh I remember my teenage years. I wanted to sleep ALL DAY on the weekends. Just let me sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep. But no. My Mom would be pounding on the door if I wasn’t up by 10am. Never mind the fact that the parents went to bed AND TO SLEEP at 10pm and I had probably been up well past Midnight…1am…2am…listening to music, writing, reading, whatever. And now, here we’ve come full circle. She’s 91 now and I’m back, living with her, and I have to get up when she gets up, so my time is, once again, no longer my own, and all I wanted to do today…Sunday…was sleeeeeeeep, but here I am up at 8am.

But yah. It sucks being a teen and having your parents wanting you out of that bed…out of your room.

On the other hand, what a lucky girl she is to have a father that actually wants to spend time with her and take her on adventures in London!!!!! She has no idea how lucky she is.

Bummer about the rain, but a day in with books and hot beverages sounds equally delightful to me. It’s raining here, I’m up and at ’em, and will spend the day doing the same, with loads of laundry in between chapters. LOL

I hope you have a great day with your family whatever you all end up doing together or separately! 🙂

  3. Question for you as a parent and your Readers who are parents: Why do you NOT want your kids to sleep all day? Why do you want them up and out of bed? I’m not talking about Saturdays when you have something fun planned. Just a regular old Saturday (or Sunday) when the sun is shining but nothing is planned. WHY do you want them up and out of bed?

I asked my 91-yo mother that question. “WHY do you parents want your teenagers to get up on a weekend? Why do you not want them sleeping all day?”

The first thought that came to her mind was that the parent has fixed breakfast and if you let them sleep then they might get up and be messing up the kitchen all over again at 11am when the parent has just finished cleaning up the kitchen.

Now that I’m an adult and have done plenty of cooking and cleaning up I find that to be a valid point, but the interesting thing for me is that this reason was never presented to me during my teenage years. All I got was pounding on my door and warnings that I had better get up. Nothing was said about breakfast or what a pain it is to have your clean kitchen messed up by a teenager an hour later. LOL

What other reasons do you all not want your kid sleeping all day if they want to?

I don’t have kids so I have never walked in the parents shoes.

  4. Lumberjanes! I saw this and thought hmm I might give that a go, now I think I will! After Ether. Have you seen Rat Queens? I started that and now that I’m getting back to myself and my hobbies I’m hoping to read much more!

Happy belated 18th to Miss 18! I hope she had an amazing time! Reading this made me want a daughter (or maybe it was the baby film last night – although I don’t like babies much) but that would be with the hopes she’d have the same hobbies and interests as me, which isn’t something I’ll be able to force! No matter how many xenomorph figures she has staring down on her while she sleeps as a child. Aaaah, so cute.
